About
Kay Wacasey is a scenic designer and literary scholar who approaches theatrical design from a perspective of writing and critical theory. She applies concepts from art and theatre history to develop ideas for stage design, creating unique staging and storytelling while pursuing opportunities to think outside the box whenever possible. She is heavily influenced by artistic movements such as the Bauhaus and strives to design sets that are simple and powerful yet functional.

Currently, Kay is enrolled in the University of Florida MFA Scene Design program and works as a graduate employee in the UF scene shop. While in the process of earning her MFA, Kay is working to streamline her artistic process and make each part of the design - concept, paint elevations, and renderings - a piece of art that can stand alone as well as be part of a cohesive and understandable whole.
